Meet The Staff
Jeanette Marchais has a passion for theatre arts, as well as a love for teaching. Born and raised in Southern California, she began training in classical ballet at the age of 9 at Ballet Academie in Oxnard. As a serious and dedicated student, she became a member of the Channel Islands Ballet Company under the direction of the nationally acclaimed, Mara Lysova at the age of 15.
She danced in many full-length ballets and productions, including The Nutcracker and Cinderella. Jeanette joined the staff at Ballet Academy, teaching beginning, intermediate, and advanced students for four years. In conjunction, she served as assistant to the Director of the Channel Islands Ballet Company.
Jeanette went on to teach ballet at the Ojai Ballet Center for two years, and Jill Johnson’s Dance Studio in Santa Paula for 5 years. She was the director of the ballet department and choreographed and directed two full-length productions of the Nutcracker, as well as several other performances.
After becoming a wife and mother, Jeanette took a hiatus from ballet to focus on being a full-time mom to her growing family. The Marchais family relocated to Lake County in 2013, just in time for Jeanette to rediscover her love for ballet as her daughter began her own ballet adventure!
Jeanette is excited to pour her heart into ballet once again as she shares her very special love with a new generation of dancers!
